This session will focus on how to foster success through positive relationships with students and each other, and how creating belonging can enhance student ownership in their education process. We will examine how those relationships improve the development of SEL competencies among students and staff. The session will also provide simple, tangible strategies and resources to use to help incorporate the SEL competencies into your classroom. The session will also discuss the role identity and values play in students developing a sense of purpose in school.
This session will focus on how to best utilize the transition plan as the starting point when planning for student success, and how to leverage community resources to support that process. The session will cover: The “why” of transition planning, the elements of strong and student-driven transition planning, examples of less-formal transition assessments and activities, how to make transition planning the focus of the IEP through Person-Centered Planning, case studies / examples, and leveraging community supports to increase success.
